• The Fastest Slalom Rider Ever

    ...

... is: Hanno Windisch @freedivenorthernireland! Starting in 1992, he became one of the pioneers in snakeboarding, competing in German contests from the very beginning. In 1994, he claimed his first European Championship title in the under-16 category.
By 1996, he had moved up to the men’s over-16 league, where he remained nearly unbeatable, becoming world champion that same year. On the rare occasions he didn't take first place, Jan Kisselmann (@kisselmannj) was the only competitor who could challenge him. However, Hanno was typically one or two seconds faster than the runner-up.

Although Hanno was renowned as a dominant slalom pro, he also competed in freestyle, showcasing unique tricks that no one else could replicate, particularly his exceptional flatland moves.

The 1999 World Championships (see video) marked Hanno’s last contest. Afterward, he shifted his focus to his other passion: surfing. This love for surfing eventually led him to move to Northern Ireland, where he has lived with his family for the past 14 years. However, his connection to Germany
remains strong—one of his four children is an avid FC Bayern München fan, and Hanno is planning to combine a football match visit in Munich with the BAVARIAN OPEN in October. Our slalom championship could very well see the return of the fastest slalom rider ever 🥳.

This leads us to the answer to the quiz in our post about the history of snakeboarding:
